ON THE DAY

He fell to the ground
a bullet pierced
and removed
a life too short
yet lived to the full
by a man outspoken for his kind
the humankind

We held our breath
feared the dream and
his spirit would be lost
but
released from its earthly shape
it nested in our dreams

The echoes of his word
loud and clear
as on the first day
in our heads and hearts

I feel his hand in mine
as we stand on the mountaintop.

This feels like the moon landing. To go where no one has gone before, to be where no one has been before. It is a place in your heart, that you hide and protect. Go there and feel good, let it shine on this 20th of January 2009.
